Our place is right by the airport in Bombay, specifically in the Kandi Nagar area. You can usually hear the planes taking off if you’re standing outside near the stone slabs. We deal with marble, so there is a lot of heavy lifting involved every single day. It’s a messy job, there is no way around it. The white dust gets everywhere, no matter how much you try to sweep the floor. We have stacks of stone all over the yard, leaning against the walls and each other. Some of it is quite nice with fancy veins, and some is just basic stuff for simple floors. People come by looking for something specific for their new homes or a renovation project. We show them what we have in stock at the moment. Sometimes we have exactly what they want, and sometimes we have to tell them it’s coming in later on a different truck. We don't have a fancy showroom with bright lights. It's more of a warehouse feel where you see the raw material exactly as it is. We’ve been here for many years, watching the neighborhood change and grow around the airport. The traffic can be a real headache when we're trying to move the big delivery trucks out of the gate. Our guys are used to it though. They know how to handle the heavy pieces. We don't really bother with big ads or anything like that. You get used to the noise after a while. Sometimes customers bring their own sketches on scraps of paper, and we try to match them with what's on the ground.
