We've been here at the Swastik Jaliwala Compound in Ambewadi for a while now. Most people know us for being right off the Western Express Highway in Vile Parle East. It's a busy spot, but it makes it easy for folks to drop by and see what we have in stock. We deal with marble and stone, mostly just keeping things moving from the yard to wherever they need to go. My brother and I usually handle the day-to-day stuff. It gets dusty, and the phones don't stop ringing, but that's just how it is in this trade. We don't have a fancy showroom with air conditioning or anything like that. It’s just a warehouse space where we keep the slabs stacked up. Sometimes the traffic on the highway is a nightmare, so we tell people to come early if they want to look at the patterns in the daylight. We try to keep a decent variety because everyone wants something different for their floors or counters. We just write down orders and get the trucks loaded as fast as we can. It’s simple work, really. We don’t do big ads. Most of our neighbors around Vile Parle just walk in after seeing the sign. We spend most of our time checking the edges of the stones and making sure the deliveries are going to the right addresses. It’s a bit messy sometimes, but we get it done.
