Marco Food Products

The area around Mazgaon and Sitafalwadi has changed a lot, but our little spot at 7/E is still going. Inside Marco Food Products, things are pretty straightforward. We have the machines for processing and the space for packing everything up. It is an old building, so the walls have some character, and the floors are worn down from years of boots walking back and forth. We make food products that go out to local shops and distributors. It isn't a massive factory, just a focused operation with a handful of people who know what they are doing. The smell of whatever we are making that day usually drifts out into the lane. Sometimes it's spices, sometimes it's something sweet. We have to be careful with the hygiene, so there’s a lot of washing up and keeping things tidy. It’s a bit of a squeeze when we get a big delivery of raw materials, but we make it work. I spend my time between the production area and the small desk where I handle the bills. There’s no big corporate structure here. If something breaks, we fix it ourselves or call a guy we know. We just want to keep the machines running and the boxes moving out the door. It is honest work and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday without fail.
