Setting up here in Kalbadevi wasn't exactly a quiet choice, but it is where we are. Our place is Building No 140/L, tucked into Cavil Cross. If you are looking for us, you have to go behind the Swadeshi Market on Tank Bund Road. It is one of those spots that can be a bit tricky to find if you aren't used to these narrow lanes. The area is always full of people carrying bundles or rushing to get their work done before the markets close. Inside the building, things are a bit more contained, but you can still hear the shouting and the horns from the main road outside. We spend a lot of our time dealing with the usual daily stuff, like sorting through papers and talking to people who drop by the office. It is an old building, so it has its quirks, like the steep stairs and the way the air gets a bit heavy when it rains. We don't have any big signs or flashy lights. Manoj runs things from here and we just try to stay on top of the work as it comes in. Kalbadevi has a very specific energy, very different from the rest of the city. It’s a lot of hard work and not much rest until late in the evening. We have been in this spot for a bit now and have gotten used to the way the market moves. It’s just how things go around here.
