You can find M S Shah over in Jai Bhim Nagar, right on Signal Hill Road in Mazgaon. We are situated near the Ever Green Hotel, which is lucky because the smell of their food drifts over around lunchtime. The area is quite industrial and busy, especially with the proximity to Hr Mahajani Road. It’s not the quietest place to work, with all the trucks and vehicles moving toward the docks. Our space is functional and mostly filled with whatever we are handling at the time. We spend most of our day on our feet. The dust from the road is a constant battle, so we are always wiping down the desks and the counter. It feels like the whole city is moving past our door sometimes. We have a small crew and we’ve known each other for a long time. There is no corporate vibe here, just us trying to get the work done and keeping the records straight when people drop in. Sometimes the heat on Signal Hill Road gets pretty intense, but we have the fans going. It’s a practical life. We know the local guys at the tea stall and the other shop owners nearby. Mazgaon has a specific rhythm to it, and we have just become part of that over the years. We just keep our heads down and do the work without much fuss.
