If you are around Vile Parle West, specifically on Bajaj Road near D J Road, you’ll find Lucky Sandwich. We are right there opposite the main corner. It’s a small space, mostly just a counter and enough room for us to stand and work. We spend all day cutting bread and chopping vegetables. It gets hot, especially during the afternoons when the sun hits the front of the shop. There is always a pile of newspapers or some crates sitting in the corner because we don't have much storage. We use simple ingredients that we get from the market nearby every morning. People stand around on the sidewalk waiting for their orders because there isn't really a place to sit inside. It’s loud with all the traffic going by, and we have to shout sometimes to hear the orders over the honking cars. We don't have a fancy menu or anything. Most people just point to what they want. The knives are always sharp, and there is usually a bit of crumbs on the floor by the end of the shift. We just keep making sandwiches until the bread runs out for the day. It’s a fast pace, and we don't really have time for long chats, but we recognize the regulars who come by every lunch break. It’s just a honest little stall trying to keep up with the neighborhood's hunger.
