If you are looking for the gastro department at LTMGH, you have to find the college building first. It’s on the first floor, specifically in room number 13. Getting there involves navigating through a lot of corridors. The stairs are always a bit worn down because so many students and patients use them every single hour. It’s a big institution here in Sion, so things can feel a bit messy sometimes. Our room is just a small part of the whole medical college setup. There are usually stacks of medical books and patient records lying around on the tables. It smells like a hospital, that mix of cleaning supplies and old paper. The windows look out over the courtyard where people are always walking. It’s not a place where you’ll find plush carpets or modern art on the walls. It’s just a working hospital room where the doctors and staff do their daily rounds. Sometimes the lift works, sometimes it’s better to just take the stairs if you’re in a hurry. We stay pretty busy with the gastro cases coming in from the wards. It gets loud in the hallways during the peak hours of the morning. Most of us have been working in this building for years, so we know all the shortcuts and where the best tea is nearby. It’s just a standard day-to-day operation in an old, busy building.
