Lilavati Hospital

We are located on the Ground Floor in the OPD section of Lilavati Hospital at A/791 Bandra Reclamation. Being on the ground floor means we are the first place most people see when they come into the hospital. The Outpatient Department is always buzzing with activity from early morning until late in the evening. We have a lot of different desks for registration and several small rooms where the doctors see patients who aren't staying overnight. There is a lot of walking back and forth as people look for the right cabin or wait for their names to be called. The seating area is quite large, but on some days it’s still hard to find a chair. We spend our time managing the files, directing people to the pharmacy, and helping the doctors stay on schedule. It’s a lot of paperwork and talking to people who are often quite worried. The air conditioning is always running, which is a relief from the Mumbai heat outside. We see hundreds of people every day, each with a different reason for being here. It’s a fast-paced environment where you have to be ready for anything. We don't have the quiet of the upper floors; it’s more like a busy marketplace for health checks and consultations. We handle the billing right there at the main counter too, so it’s a lot of handling cash and cards while people are asking for directions. We just take it one person at a time.
