Khan Chacha Rice

Khan Chacha Rice is situated at Shop No. 02 on the ground floor of Bisla High. We are in the Teli Mohalla area, specifically on Huzeria Street in Nathpada, Mumbai Central. If you know Mumbai Central, you know how packed and busy it gets. Our shop is right in the middle of all that activity. We sell different kinds of rice and grains, and the smell of raw rice is the first thing you notice when you walk in. Huge burlap bags are stacked up against the walls, almost reaching the ceiling in some spots. It is a small shop, so there isn't much room for more than two or three people at a time. We use old-fashioned scales to weigh everything out for the customers. The floor is often covered in a bit of grain dust, no matter how much we sweep. Huzeria Street is narrow, so deliveries can be a real challenge with all the handcarts and scooters passing by. Khan Chacha is usually here most of the day, talking to the regulars who have been buying their rice from us for years. We don't do anything fancy with packaging; we just put the rice in plain bags and tie them up. It is a loud, crowded, and busy place to work, but it is part of the life here in Nathpada. We just keep our heads down and keep the bags filled for whoever comes in. (251 words)
