Down in Chandivali Estate, things stay pretty busy from early morning. We’re located right off Saki Vihar Road in Andheri East, which means there is always a truck or a delivery van moving around somewhere nearby. Kamani Oil Industries has been operating out of this spot for a long time. It’s an industrial area, so it’s not exactly pretty, but it’s where the work happens. The noise from the road is constant, but you get used to it after a week or two. Our building is easy to find if you know the estate, though the signs are a bit faded from the sun. Inside, it’s mostly just people keeping track of orders and making sure the oil gets where it needs to go. We don’t have any big flashy posters on the walls. It’s mostly just calendars and notes pinned up. Sometimes the monsoon makes the road outside a bit of a mess, but we keep the gates open and the lights on regardless. The team here knows each other well. Most of the staff have been around for years, so there isn’t much need for formal meetings. We just talk across the hall or shout over the noise. It’s a straightforward way of doing things. Being in Andheri makes it easier for logistics, even if the traffic is a nightmare during peak hours. We just focus on getting the tasks done and heading home when the sun goes down. We've got a small canteen nearby for lunch, but mostly we just eat at our desks.
