Jayant Oil Mills

You can find Jayant Oil Mills over at 13, Sitafalwadi in the Mazagaon area. It’s an old part of the city, and we have been here for a very long time. You can usually tell you’re getting close because of the smell and the sound of the machinery running. It’s a very hands-on place. We don't have a quiet office; there’s always a thumping sound from the equipment or someone shouting to be heard over the noise. The floors are a bit oily, which is expected, and we are always moving heavy drums around. It’s hard work and it gets quite hot, especially in the middle of the day. We’ve seen Mazagaon change a lot, but our little corner in Sitafalwadi stays pretty much the same. We have a small group of workers who have been with us for years, and they know the machines better than anyone. We don't spend money on fancy decorations. The walls are bare, and the furniture is just there for utility. We just focus on the oil and making sure the mill keeps running like it should. When the day is done, we’re usually pretty tired and covered in a bit of grime. It’s just the nature of the business. We don't try to make it sound like something it isn't. It’s a mill, and we work hard to keep it going every day through the heat.
