Jayachand Ceramics

Jayachand Ceramics is located at 110 Sayajigunj in Kandivali West. We are very close to the railway station, which is convenient but also means it is never quiet. You can hear the trains all day long. We sell all kinds of ceramics, mostly tiles and some bathroom fittings. The shop is quite packed with stock, so you have to be careful not to knock anything over. My father started this business many years ago and I took over after he retired. It is a bit of a struggle to keep everything organized because we have so many different patterns and sizes. We don't have a fancy display area. Most of the stuff is just kept in its original boxes. It gets very dusty in here and we spend a lot of time cleaning. We have a small desk near the door where we keep the ledger and a calculator. It’s just me and one helper who does the heavy lifting. Moving these boxes of tiles is not easy work. We get all sorts of customers, from people doing up their own houses to builders. Big promotions aren't really how we do things. People just see the shop when they are walking to the station. It is a simple business and we’ve been here long enough that everyone knows us. We just try to provide what people need for their homes. The traffic around here is usually a mess, but being near the train makes it easier.
