Jani Khaman & Locho House

Jani Khaman & Locho House is located at number 11 on Bhatar Road in Borivali West. We specialize in Gujarati snacks, mainly khaman and locho, which we make in big batches throughout the day to keep up with demand. The steamers are always running, so it gets pretty humid inside the shop. We’ve been at this location for a long time and have seen the street change quite a bit as new shops open and close. It’s a simple operation where we focus on getting the texture of the locho just right every time. Sometimes it’s a bit softer or firmer depending on the batch, but that’s the nature of handmade food. We have a small counter where people stand and eat their plates with a bit of chutney and sev. It’s not a place for a long fancy dinner, just a quick stop. We use old recipes that have been in the family, nothing modernized or changed for trends. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re usually too busy with the orders to get around to it. Most of our customers come from the nearby apartments and they know us by name. We don't spend money on marketing, we just put the food out and hope it sells well. It’s a local Borivali spot and we’re happy to keep it that way for the community. Running this place keeps us busy from morning to night.
