I’m over at the C.G.S. Colony in Wadala East. The building is 66 and I’m in flat 2849 in Section 07. It’s a government colony area, so things are pretty structured around here with the gardens and the walkways. Jalpanajena is the name I use for my work. Living and working in Mumbai 400037 means you’re always near a railway line or a big road. The noise is just part of the background now and I barely notice it. I don't have a big staff. It's usually just me handling things from the flat. It gets a bit cramped sometimes with all the stuff I need for my work, but it’s manageable if I stay organized. I like being in Wadala because it’s central. People find it easy to drop things off or pick them up on their way somewhere else. I don’t bother with much advertising or social media. Most of the people I work with have been coming to me for a long time now. They know the building and they know which buzzer to press to get in. I’m not trying to be the biggest company in the city or anything. I just want to do a decent job so I can pay the rent and keep going. Some mornings I take a short walk around the colony before I start my tasks. It’s the only time it’s actually quiet outside. After that, the phone starts ringing and the day just goes by in a blur of tasks.
