Jagdamba Granite & Marble

Jagdamba Granite & Marble sits right along the Western Express Highway, over on the airport side in Vile Parle East. It is a very loud spot because of the cars rushing by and the planes taking off nearby. Our place is close to the Laxmi Narayan Temple and Dr Rajendra Prasad Nagar, so we get a lot of locals walking past. The shop is mostly outdoors because granite and marble take up a lot of room. We have different sections for different types of stone, and they all get a bit dusty from the highway air. Every morning we have to spray down some of the pieces just so people can see the real colors underneath the grime. It is hard work moving these heavy blocks around. We don't have a corporate office or anything like that. There is just a desk where we sit and talk to customers while the traffic hums in the background. Sometimes the noise from the highway makes it hard to hear the phone ringing, but we manage. We’ve been in this part of Vile Parle for a while, and the neighbors at the temple are used to us by now. It is just a regular local business trying to keep things tidy in a very busy part of Mumbai. We don't spend money on fancy displays. We just keep the stone stacked up and wait for the next truck to arrive with new supplies.
