Harry Optics Clinic

We’ve got this small place, Shop No 5, in the Anand Smruti building in Kandivali West. It’s right there on Mathu road. If you walk past, you’ll see the window with some frames hanging up. It isn’t a huge showroom like the ones you see in the big malls. We just have a few rows of glasses and a chair in the back for the eye checks. Most of the time, I’m sitting at the little workbench fixing a hinge or cleaning some lenses. People drop in because they sat on their glasses or they can't read the morning paper anymore. We talk to them, figure out what's wrong, and see what we can do. The shop gets a lot of light in the afternoon, which helps when I'm working with those tiny screws. Sometimes the kids from the neighborhood come in just to say hello or look at their reflection. We have an old mirror on the wall that’s been there since we opened. It’s a bit silvered at the edges but it works fine. We don't have a receptionist or anything. You just walk in and we help you. It can get a bit crowded if more than two people are waiting, so some folks just stand outside on the pavement and chat. We like being part of the community here in Kandivali. It’s just a regular clinic where we try to help people see a bit better each day.
