General Instruments Consortium

We are located at Room No 8 in the Chagan Pradhan Chawl, which is over in Bandongri, Pushpa Park. It’s in Malad East, so it’s a busy part of Mumbai. Being in a chawl means we are right in the middle of everything. There are families living all around us and other small businesses tucked into nearby rooms. It’s a small space, so we have to be very careful about where we put things. We deal with instruments and technical stuff, so there are always boxes and small parts sitting around. The room is a bit dark, so we have to keep the overhead lights on all day. It gets very hot in the summer, and the monsoon rains can be quite loud on the roof. We spend most of our time checking equipment or writing down numbers in our ledgers. It is a lot of detail work that requires us to stay focused. We usually have the radio playing softly in the background to drown out some of the noise from the street. Finding our place can be a bit tricky if you don't know the landmarks, but the locals can usually point you to the right chawl. We have been here long enough that most people know who we are. It’s just a basic work life in a crowded city. We do our best to stay organized and keep moving forward.
