Our place is over in Goregaon East, specifically at A-25 in the Laghu Udyog Kendra on I.B. Patel Road. If you know Mumbai, you know this area is always buzzing with small businesses and workshops. Gajanan Canteen Equipment Co. has been here for a while. We make and sell the kind of stuff you see in large kitchens, like big stoves, burners, and stainless steel tables. The workshop is usually a bit noisy because of the metal work going on. It’s a practical environment. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that. It’s just us and the equipment. People often drop by to see the size of the ovens or to check how sturdy the sinks are. We show them what we have and explain how it works without any big sales pitch. The office part is just a desk with a computer and a lot of folders. I.B. Patel Road can be a nightmare during rush hour, so we try to get our deliveries out early in the morning. It’s a lot of physical work, moving heavy steel items around, but we are used to it by now. The tea guy comes around twice a day, and that is usually when we take a short break to catch our breath. We just want to do a decent job and keep the workshop running smoothly every day.
