G. K. Industries

You can find G. K. Industries over at Surve Industrial Estate on Sonawala Cross Road. It's a crowded area, like most of the industrial zones around here. We’ve got unit 15. The street outside is usually blocked with trucks loading and unloading. It can be a real headache some mornings. Inside, the space is pretty tight because we’ve got quite a bit of machinery packed in. We do manufacturing work, mostly stuff that people don't think about until they need it. It’s noisy and there’s always the smell of hot metal in the air. We’ve been in this spot for a long time. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but nobody really has the time for that. We focus on getting the orders out on time. The staff here are mostly local guys who’ve been in this trade for decades. We don't have a receptionist or a big lobby. You just walk in and find someone. It’s a practical way of running things. Sometimes we stay late when a big job comes in. The tea stall around the corner is where we get our energy. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s what we know. Sonawala Cross Road is always buzzing with activity. We’re just one small part of that big machine. We keep the equipment maintained as best as we can. It’s steady work and we’re glad for it. Every day brings something a little different to the bench.
