Friends With Potato

You can find us on the third floor of R City Mall in Ghatkopar West. We are part of the big food court there, which is always a noisy place to be, especially on the weekends when families come out. Friends With Potato is the name on our stall. We’ve been here in the Pant Nagar area for a bit, and being in a mall is different from being on the street. You have to follow a lot of rules and stay within your square of floor space. My cousin helps me out most days because it gets too busy for one person. We spend a lot of time dealing with potatoes, obviously. Washing them, peeling them, and getting them ready for the customers. The mall lights are very bright all day, and there's always music playing from the speakers in the ceiling. It can get a bit much after eight hours, but you get used to it. We see all kinds of people, from teenagers hanging out after school to people just taking a break from shopping. Sometimes the machines act up and we have to fix them on the fly. It's not a glamorous job, but it's what we do. We don't have a huge team, just a few of us trying to keep the line moving. It’s a lot of standing on your feet, but at least the mall has decent air conditioning, which is a big help.
