We set up Fresh Veggies on Pahadi Municipal Road right near the Ring Road a few years back. It’s a busy spot especially in the mornings when the trucks arrive with all the crates. We spend a lot of time sorting through things and making sure everything is piled up neatly for the people who stop by. The air smells like damp earth and greens most of the time which is nice. It isn't a complicated business. We just buy what looks good and sell it to the neighborhood. Some days the heat is really hard on the produce and we have to work fast to keep things fresh. We have a few guys helping us out with the heavy lifting because those crates get heavy after a while. The Ring Road is always humming with traffic so there’s never a quiet moment really. We don't have any fancy signs or a website that works properly. People just know we are here by the Pahadi Municipal Road. We get to know the regulars pretty well and we know who likes the smaller tomatoes or the firmer beans. It’s a lot of standing on your feet all day and our backs usually ache by the time we close up. But it’s honest work and it keeps us busy. We don’t really think about it much more than that. We just want to make sure the bins are full and the customers are satisfied with what they take home. It's just a routine.
