Feroze Foods & Flavours

Feroze Foods & Flavours is down at Byculla Dandia Bazar, specifically at number 403. Our place is right in the middle of a very old and busy part of the city. As soon as you step inside, you can smell everything we are working on that day, whether it’s vanilla or something spicy. We make different kinds of food flavorings and essences. The shop has been in the family for a long time, and we still use some of the same methods we always have. It is not a modern laboratory; it is more like a workshop with lots of glass bottles and weighing scales. The walls are a bit stained from years of work, and the floors are worn down. We don't have a big staff, just a few people who know the recipes by heart. Customers come in to buy small bottles for their own cooking or larger quantities for their bakeries. We don't do any flashy advertising or have a big website. Most of our business comes from people who have been buying from us for decades. Sometimes the market outside is so loud we have to shout to be heard over the noise of the carts and the people. We keep our records in big handwritten ledgers because it’s easier for us than using a computer for everything. It’s a traditional way of doing things, and it works for us here in Byculla. We close early on Fridays, so we have to rush to finish the blends.
