We’ve been working with stone here in Mumbai for a long time. Elegant Marbles is really just a group of people who know their way around a slab of granite or marble. Our yard in Mumbai is usually full of heavy blocks and the loud sound of cutting machines. It’s a dusty job, and we spend most of our time moving heavy things around and making sure the edges are cut straight. We don't really go in for the high-end showroom feel. We’d rather show you the actual stone as it comes in from the quarry. People come to us when they need something solid for a floor or a kitchen counter. We’ve seen all kinds of trends come and go, but marble is marble. It’s heavy, it’s hard to move, and it looks nice when it’s finished properly. Our staff has been doing this for years, so we can usually tell a good piece of stone just by looking at the grain and the color. We aren't trying to be the trendiest shop in the city. We just want to provide a product that doesn't crack or stain too easily. Mumbai is a tough place on buildings, so the materials have to be good. Sometimes we’re late with a delivery because the trucks get stuck in the local traffic, but we try our best to get there. It’s a straightforward business. We sell stone, we cut it, and we help people get it installed. That’s about all there is to it.
