Dr Hiren Mehta Eye Care Center

We are tucked away on the first floor of the Happy Home society in Ghatkopar East. It’s right opposite the Guru, so it’s easy enough to spot once you get into the lane. The stairs are a bit narrow, but people find their way up. It’s a quiet eye clinic for the most part, except when the kids come in for their checkups and start running around. Dr. Mehta has been looking at eyes here for quite some time. We have the usual charts on the wall and those big machines you have to lean your chin on. Most of the day is spent checking if people need new glasses or if their cataracts are getting worse. It’s a lot of "is this better or that better" while switching lenses. We try to keep the atmosphere relaxed. Nobody likes having things poked near their eyes, so we take it slow. The society is a typical residential spot, so it feels more like visiting a neighbor than going to a cold hospital. Sometimes we run a bit behind schedule because some patients like to chat about their families, and we don't like to rush them out. It’s a small space, but we keep it organized. Looking at screens all day has made our business busier lately. We just do our bit to make sure everyone can see where they’re going. Sometimes we have to remind people to wait their turn when the hallway gets crowded or someone is blocking the door. It is a simple place that works for the neighborhood.
