Devki Pandit

I’m based in Flat 301 at the Vikramaditya Buildi on Old Madras Road in Andheri West. It’s a busy area, but being up on the third floor helps keep some of the street noise away. My work is quite personal, and I don’t have a big staff or a corporate office. It’s just me in my flat, surrounded by my things and my work. I’ve lived in Andheri for many years now, and I’ve seen it turn into the hub it is today. My day usually starts early with some coffee and then I get straight to whatever is on the schedule. The flat isn't a showroom; it's a real home where I also happen to work. There are piles of paper here and there, and the kitchen table often doubles as my desk. I prefer it this way because I can work at my own pace without anyone breathing down my neck. People usually find me through friends or family, and that’s how I like it. Old Madras Road can be a nightmare with traffic, but once you’re inside, it’s a different world. I’ve got my routine down, and I don’t feel the need to change it. It’s a simple setup, but it’s enough for what I do. I just focus on the task at hand and try to live a quiet life in this noisy city. The lift is broken more often than I’d like, so I get plenty of exercise on the stairs. It keeps me moving and helps me think.
