My clinic is tucked away in Thavsarkar Chawl right on the Shahaji Raje Vile Parle East Main Road. If you know where Bhuta High School is, you’ve probably walked past us a dozen times. The school kids are always making a racket when they let out in the afternoon, but you get used to it after a few years. I’ve been practicing here for a long time and the space is quite small, but it serves the neighborhood well enough. There’s a wooden bench in the waiting area that’s been there since I opened. It’s a bit creaky. Most of the people who come in are local families I’ve known for years. I see a lot of coughs and fevers, especially when the weather starts to change. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but I haven't found the time to close up for a few days to get it done. My desk is always covered in files and sample bottles that the reps leave behind. I don’t use a computer for much besides the basics because I still prefer writing things down by hand. It feels more real that way. People stop in to talk even when they aren’t sick sometimes. It’s just that kind of place. We don't have any fancy machines or a big staff. It's just me and the assistant helping people feel a bit better when they are down.
