If you walk down Gautam Buddha Road in Malad West, you will find Germaine Apartments right across from Orlem Church. I am up in room 302. This is where I run my consulting business. It is a busy area, especially on Sundays when the church has its services, but during the week, it has a nice steady pace. The building is a bit older, which I like because it feels more like a home than a workplace. I have a window that looks out toward the street, and I often find myself watching the traffic while I think about client problems. The name on the door just says Consulting. I didn't see any reason to make it more complicated than that. Inside, it's pretty basic—just a few chairs, a solid table, and my files. Mumbai can be such a rush, but inside 302, things slow down a little. I usually have the fan on high because the afternoons get quite warm here in Malad. Neighbors often stop by for a chat on their way up or down the stairs. It’s the kind of place where people feel okay just dropping in to ask a quick question about their business or some legal document they don't understand. I've been in this spot for a long time now and I've grown fond of the creaky floorboards and the way the light hits the wall in the evening. It’s just me and my work. That is how I like to spend my time.
