Bombay Marble & Tiles

Our yard is located at 470-A Duncan Road, right at the corner of 8th Main Diagonal Road in the 4th Block. It is a heavy place to work because marble and tiles are not light. Every morning we start by moving slabs around so customers can see the patterns properly. The dust from the stone gets on everything, including our clothes and the small desk where we keep the bills. We have been in this spot for years, watching the traffic on Duncan Road get worse and worse. It is a hot job, especially in the middle of the day when the sun reflects off the white marble. We don't have a fancy showroom with air conditioning, just the open space where the trucks can pull in and out easily. People come in looking for specific colors for their floors, and we spend a lot of time walking them through the stacks. We have a small tap in the back where we wash the dust off our hands before we eat lunch. The neighbors are mostly other stone dealers, so we all know each other well. It is hard work on the back and the arms, but there is something nice about seeing the different stones every day. We just keep the inventory moving and try to make sure nothing cracks during the loading. It is just how the stone business goes.
