Barkat Boiler

We spend most of our time here at Shop Number 2 in Ibrahim Gani Chawl. It is a busy part of Mazgaon, and you can always hear the traffic outside. Working on boilers is what we do every single day. It is hot and heavy work, honestly. People come by when their equipment breaks or when they need something specific made out of metal. My family has been doing this for a long time, so we just keep the tradition going. We have tools scattered everywhere on the benches. It is definitely not a fancy office with air conditioning. Most days are just about fixing parts and making sure the pressure is exactly right. Sometimes the tea guy comes around while we are in the middle of a difficult weld, and we take a short break. You get used to the constant noise of the street after a while. It is a lot of manual work and our hands stay dirty until we go home. We do not really do any fancy advertising or anything like that. People in the neighborhood just know where we are located. If you are in Mazgaon, you have probably walked past our open door a hundred times without thinking much of it. The floor has these permanent oil stains that will never come out. It is just part of the shop's history now. We keep some spare parts in the back, though the space is very tight. It is a regular shop doing regular jobs for local people.
