About Annapoorna Tiffin Services & Lunch – Food & Beverages in Mumbai
Our place is inside the Parsi Bakery Compound near Ved Darwaja. It is an old area and the buildings have a lot of character but they can be a bit cramped. Every morning the kitchen gets very busy very early because we have to get the tiffins ready for the lunch delivery. There are stacks of stainless steel containers everywhere and we have to make sure each one is closed tight so the food doesn't spill out during the ride. We spend a lot of time chopping vegetables and stirring big vats of dal. The heat in the kitchen gets pretty intense by ten in the morning. We don't really have a fancy office or a marketing person. It is just us and a couple of delivery guys who know all the shortcuts through the narrow streets. Sometimes a supplier forgets to bring the onions or the gas bottle runs out in the middle of cooking and we have to scramble to fix it. We try to keep things tasting like what you would get at home. It is not about being a gourmet restaurant. We just want to make sure people get their lunch on time and that the food is filling. It is a lot of repetitive work day after day but it keeps us busy and the compound is always full of life.
