About Anil Dhanya Bhandar – Food & Beverages in Mumbai
Anil Dhanya Bhandar has been in Mulund West 4 for years. We sell grains, pulses, and all the basic stuff you need for a kitchen. The shop is full of big jute bags and plastic bins. It smells like roasted dal and basmati rice in here. We don’t have those fancy scanners or self-checkout machines you see in the big supermarkets. We use a simple scale and paper bags for most things. People from the nearby apartments come in to get their monthly stock of wheat or rice. We know which family likes which grade of rice and who wants their flour ground a certain way. It gets crowded in the evenings when everyone finishes work, and the line can get a bit messy, but we move as fast as we can. My father started this and now I’m the one mostly looking after the stocks. We check the quality of the grains ourselves when the trucks arrive. Sometimes the prices go up or down depending on the market, but we try to keep it fair for our regulars. It’s a simple life, just selling good food to the neighbors. The floor is usually a bit dusty from the flour, but that’s just a sign of a busy day. We don't do deliveries, people just come by and pick up what they need for the week. It’s how we’ve always done it.
