Our office is tucked away in Acme Plaza, specifically in units 506 and 507. If you know the Andheri-Kurla Road, you know how chaotic it can get out there. The noise of the traffic is pretty much the soundtrack to our workday. We deal with ceramic tiles, so there are always samples lying around the desks and leaning against the corners of the rooms. It’s not the most spacious setup, but it works for what we need to do. Most mornings start with checking the stock lists and seeing what arrived at the warehouse. We spend a lot of time on the phone talking to people about sizes and shades of beige or grey. It’s funny how many versions of grey there actually are when you look closely at the tiles. Being in Andheri East means there’s always someone popping in, usually looking for a specific type of flooring they saw somewhere else. We don't have a big marketing team or anything; it’s mostly just us handling the paperwork and the orders. The lift in the plaza can be slow sometimes, which is a bit of a pain when you’re in a hurry. We just try to keep things moving. Sometimes the samples get chipped, and we have to clear them out to make room for the new batches. It’s a straightforward way to earn a living, even if the commute on this road is a nightmare most days.
