Our place is situated in Mahim, specifically at 7 Balmia Lane on L G Cross Road. We are in Khurashi House, which sits right across from St. Michael’s Church. It’s a good landmark because everyone knows the church. We work in the publishing field, so our office is usually overflowing with stacks of books, loose manuscripts, and various proofs. It can look a little disorganized to an outsider, but we know where everything is. The room often smells like fresh ink and paper. We’ve been here for a while now, and we’ve grown used to the sounds of the neighborhood. On certain days, the bells from the church are quite loud, but it’s a nice background sound. We aren't a massive publishing house with corporate offices. It is just a small group of us working on computers and managing the print runs. We spend our days checking for typos and making sure the layouts aren't crooked. Sometimes a writer will come in to check on their project and we sit down for a quick tea while looking over the pages. The building itself is old and has its quirks, like a door that sticks when it’s humid. We don't bother with fancy decor or big signs. People who need our services usually find us by asking around or seeing our name on the gate. We just enjoy the process of turning ideas into printed books.
