Ambe Jumbo Xerox

If you walk down Akruli Road in Kandivali East, you’ll find us at Shop No. 3 in the Vashishtha Kripa Building. We are very close to the BMC School, so we get a lot of students rushing in during the mornings or right after classes finish. The shop is small and the big Xerox machines take up most of the room. It gets pretty warm in here when the machines have been running for a few hours straight without a break. There is always that distinct smell of toner and warm paper in the air. We keep plenty of staplers and pens on the counter because people are always asking to borrow them for their documents. Sometimes the queue gets out the door, especially during exam season or when there’s a new form everyone needs to fill out at the same time. We don’t have fancy signs or anything. Just the machines, some stacks of white paper, and a couple of stools if someone needs to wait for a big spiral binding job. The floor is usually covered in little bits of paper from the hole puncher that we sweep up at night. We’ve seen all sorts of documents come through here, from school projects to legal papers. It’s a busy little spot and we try to keep things moving as fast as we can. The noise of the scanning light moving back and forth is just part of the background music for us every day while we work.
