Agarwal Granite & Marbles

If you come down to Kandivali East, you will find Agarwal Granite & Marbles over in the Jain Compound. We are at number 4 Dk Lane, pretty close to the Sanumantharaya Temple and just near the Gulfam Hotel. Our yard is full of big slabs of stone, mostly granite and marble, leaning against the walls. It is a dusty place to work, and we are always wearing sturdy boots because those stones are heavy and have sharp edges. We spend our days showing people the different patterns in the rock and helping them figure out what might look okay in their house. We don't have a fancy showroom with bright lights. Most of our stock is just out there in the open or under a basic roof. You get a lot of white dust on your clothes if you hang around too long. We have saws for cutting the pieces to size, and that makes a lot of noise throughout the day. We are just regular people who know a lot about stone. We don't use any sales tactics. If someone likes a piece of marble, they buy it, and we help them get it loaded up. It is physical, heavy work and the sun beats down on the compound quite a bit. But we’ve been here for years and we are used to the rhythm of the lane and the people who live around here.
