Keshav Masala

Keshav Masala is situated in Bhadiyad, on the Old Road in Morbi. We are quite close to the railway station, so we always hear the whistles of the trains coming in and out of Rajkot. The area is a bit industrial and the roads are often covered in a layer of dust from all the traffic. Our building is an old one, but it serves us well for what we do. Inside, it’s always a bit hazy because of the spice dust in the air. We grind everything right here on the premises. It makes a lot of noise, so we have to talk loudly to hear each other. We have a few big grinding machines that have been with us for a long time. They are reliable, even if they need a bit of grease and maintenance now and then. We don't really have a storefront, it’s more of a production place. People from the nearby villages and from the main part of Morbi know where to find us if they need something. We don't spend money on fancy packaging; we just use plain bags that do the job. My brother and I run the place along with two other workers who have been with us for years. We start early when the air is still cool and finish up before the sun goes down too far. It’s just a simple, honest way to make a living in a busy town like Morbi. We like the rhythm of it.
