Shemrock Early Birds

Up here in Ramnagar, specifically the Nayagaon area near Chilkiya, is where we have Shemrock Early Birds. It’s a quiet part of the Nainital district. We mainly look after the younger kids who are just starting out. The building is simple and we’ve decorated the rooms with bright colors so it feels a bit more lively for the little ones. Since it’s a hilly region, the weather changes quite a bit, and we have to keep the rooms warm or cool depending on the season. We spend a lot of time on basic things like letters, numbers, and playing. The staff here are mostly local women who have kids of their own. It feels more like a big house than a formal institution sometimes. There’s a small space outside where the children can run around. We have to watch them closely so they don't wander off towards the main road. Parents drop their children off early in the morning before they go to work. We talk to them at the gate about how the day went. It’s not a complicated operation. We just provide a spot for the kids to be while they learn their first bits of schooling. Sometimes the monkeys come near the trees outside, which the kids find very exciting. We just keep doing our thing day after day in this small corner of Nayagaon. It isn't a large place but it suits our needs for now.
