Saleem Bhai Hair Dresser is located over on Hospital Road in the Thakurdwara area of Moradabad. It is a busy part of town because of the hospital, so there is always a lot of movement outside our door. I spend most of my day standing by the chair, working through the line of people who come in. We have been in this spot in Uttar Pradesh for a long while now. The shop is small and filled with the things we use every day, like various combs, sharp scissors, and those old-style razors. I try to keep everything organized, but when it gets busy, things get a bit messy on the counters. People from all over Moradabad stop by, some just for a quick shave before they go to work. We don't have any big signs or loud music, just the sound of the fans and the people talking. It’s a very local kind of place where everyone knows each other’s names. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just have to wait it out or work with the light from the doorway. The tea stall nearby usually brings us a few cups during the afternoon when we need a break. It is a long day from morning to night, but it is good to be a part of the community here on Hospital Road. We just keep doing what we know how to do without any fuss or extra noise.
