Rafi Hair Saloon

Rafi Hair Saloon is located right in the middle of Peetal Basti. If you know Moradabad, you know this part of town is always noisy with the sound of metal work and people moving things around. I opened this place because there were so many workers here who didn't want to go far for a haircut. The shop is small and sometimes it gets a bit crowded when four or five people are waiting on the bench. I try to keep it organized but hair gets everywhere during a busy shift. My tools are simple. I’ve had the same pair of heavy scissors for years and they still cut better than the new ones you see in the market. The walls were painted blue a long time ago and they’ve faded a bit, but it feels like home. Most of my regulars come in on their day off. We don't really have a schedule, people just show up when they see the light is on. I spend most of my day standing up and by the evening my back usually hurts a little. But that is how it goes when you run your own small place. I watch the rickshaws go by and wait for the next person to sit in the chair. It is not a fancy life but it is what I know. We don't use expensive lotions or anything like that, just the basic stuff that gets the job done.
