Our place is right on Rampur Road in the Gulab Bari area. It’s easy to spot because of the big slabs of stone leaning against the walls near J.O Exports International. We deal with marble and granite every day. It’s heavy, dusty work that keeps your hands rough. People come in looking for something for their kitchen or a floor, and we show them what we have in the yard. Every piece of stone is different, so we spend a lot of time moving slabs around so folks can see the patterns. The crane gets a lot of use here. Some days it’s just us and the sound of the saw cutting through granite. It’s noisy and the water used for cooling the blades gets everywhere. We don’t have a big polished showroom with fancy lights. It’s just the warehouse and the yard. Most of the time we are busy loading trucks or talking to contractors about what they need for their next project. Sometimes we get a rare piece of marble that looks really nice, and other times it’s just the standard grey or black granite that everyone wants. We’ve been at this for a bit now, and we know which stones are hard to work with and which ones behave. It’s mostly just about getting the stone moved and sold so we can make room for the next shipment coming in. It’s a long day.
