S.M. Engineers

We are over at D 79 in the Focal Point area. Being in an industrial zone like Focal Point means it’s always noisy and there’s always something moving. S.M. Engineers is basically a place where we get our hands dirty every single day. We don't have a reception area or anything formal. You just walk in and you’ll find us working on whatever project is on the bench. We do a lot of mechanical work and custom parts. Sometimes the drawings we get are a bit messy, so we have to figure things out as we go. It’s a lot of measuring and double-checking. The machines we use are old but they still do the job if you treat them right. We don't have a big staff, just a few guys who know their way around a lathe and a drill press. Lunch is usually eaten quickly on a workbench because there’s always a deadline looming. The air in Focal Point always smells like oil and burnt metal, and our shop is no different. We’ve been in this unit for a while and we know the other guys on the block. We help each other out when someone needs a specific tool. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s honest work. We just try to finish what we started and make sure the customer is satisfied when they pick up their parts.
