Ricky Rubber

We are located at Plot No. 99 in the Gidc Industrial Area. It’s right off Mehsana Road, quite close to the bus stand, so there’s always people walking by. Being in the rubber business means the smell is something you just get used to after a couple of days. New people always notice it, but for us, it just smells like work. The shop floor is usually covered in scraps and dust from the manufacturing process. We spend our mornings checking the inventory and making sure the machines are greased up. It’s a noisy environment with the constant thumping of the presses. Sometimes the trucks waiting to load up block the entire driveway, and we have to shout to get them to move. We’ve been in this spot for a long time. The roof leaks a little when the monsoon hits, so we have to move the stock around to keep it dry. It’s not a perfect setup, but it’s ours. The guys working here are a good bunch, mostly locals who catch the bus right outside. We don't have fancy uniforms or a lobby for visitors. If you come by, you’ll probably find us covered in black dust and busy with an order. We just keep our heads down and try to finish what we started. It’s honest work and it fills our days from morning till night.
