Down in Indrapuram Colony, specifically at Khasra No. 168, that is where you’ll find our workshop. Chitra Engineering isn't one of those places with a shiny glass front or a receptionist. It is mostly just the sound of machines and the smell of cutting oil. We spend most of our time at Partapur working on whatever comes through the door. Sometimes it is a small fix for a neighbor and other times it’s a bigger job that keeps us late into the night. My hands are usually covered in grease by ten in the morning, and the floor always has some metal shavings on it no matter how much we sweep. We have a few old lathes that still work better than the new stuff we bought last year. It gets really hot in the summer under the tin roof, so we go through a lot of water. There is a small tea stall just down the road where we take our breaks. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. People just know we are here and they come by when they have a problem they can’t solve themselves. It’s honest work and it keeps the lights on. Sometimes the neighbors complain about the noise, but we try to keep it down after dark. It’s just a regular engineering shop doing what we can and it's been this way for a long time.
