Purra Rathnamma

I live and work in Mamidgi village, which is in Nyalkal Mandal. My house number is 3-48. Life here is very different from the big cities. Everything moves a bit slower. I spend my days looking after the business from my home. We are in the Sangareddy district, so it’s quite a way out. Most of my neighbors are farmers or people who have small shops. I usually start my work after finishing the household chores in the morning. I have a small area set aside for my papers and whatever I am selling at the time. Sometimes people from the nearby villages come over to talk about their needs. We sit on the porch under the shade. It’s a simple setup. I don't have a computer or anything like that, just a notebook and a pen. The air is fresh here, but the roads can get muddy when it rains. I’ve stayed in Mamidgi all my life, so everyone knows who I am. They just call out my name at the gate. My family helps me out when there is a lot to do. We don't have a fancy store, just the front of the house where we do our dealings. It’s enough for us. I like being able to work where I live and see my neighbors every day while I do it. It keeps me busy and I don't have to go far for work. The village is quiet and peaceful most of the time.
