Banoth Surekha

I am Surekha and I live at house 1-7 in Thukaram Thanda. This is in Chapta (B) village, which falls under Kangti mandal. It’s a bit of a distance from the main towns, but we like the peace here. My work is mostly local, and I handle things from my home. Being in a small thanda means you know every face you see. I started this because I wanted to stay busy and help my family. It’s not a huge business with employees, just me managing the day-to-day tasks. I don’t use fancy words or have a big sign outside. People in Chapta know my house and they know they can come to me. The village life is slow but we keep moving. I spend a lot of time organizing things and making sure everything is in its place. Sometimes it's hard balancing house work and this, but I’ve found a rhythm that works. My address is 1-7, and you’ll usually find me there during the day. I’ve lived in this district for a long time and I don't see myself leaving. It’s where my roots are. I don't have a mission statement or anything like that, I just try to do my job right and keep things honest. That is the way I was raised. In the evenings, the women in the thanda sit together and talk about the day. It’s a nice way to end the work. I’ve learned how to manage my time better over the years. My house is always open.
