Mount Everest English High School

You can find Mount Everest English High School over on Anna Theru in Sirkali. We share the area with the 23 Q Dance School, so there is always some kind of activity happening around here. Being in the Nagapattinam district, we get that coastal weather which can be quite humid at times. Our school is a modest building, not too tall, but it has enough room for all the classes we run. We focus on teaching English and the usual subjects to the local kids from around Sirkali. The street outside is usually full of bicycles and the occasional cow wandering past. It’s a very local atmosphere. Our teachers are mostly from this area, and they bring a lot of common sense to the way they handle the children. We don't have a big PR department or anyone to write fancy speeches for us. We just write the notices on the board and talk to parents when they come to the gate. Inside the office, we have old metal cupboards full of files going back years. It’s a bit cramped, but we know where everything is. The kids are loud and energetic, which keeps us on our toes throughout the day. When the monsoon hits, we have to make sure the rain doesn't come in through the windows, but otherwise, things go pretty smoothly. It’s just our way of life here on Anna Theru. We hope the kids learn something useful each day they are here.
