Our place, Kerala Food, is located in Manipal. We are right in that area between Manipal and Udupi in Karnataka. It's a busy spot with lots of students and people moving around all day. We mostly focus on the kind of food you'd find back in Kerala. The kitchen is small and it gets very hot in there during the lunch rush. We don't have a big, fancy menu. We just make a few good things every day and when they're gone, they're gone for the day. It’s a very simple setup with just a few tables and chairs for customers. Most people just take their food to go. We spend our mornings chopping vegetables and getting the spices ready for the pots. It smells like coconut oil and fresh curry leaves most of the time around here. We don’t do any fancy advertising or anything like that. People just find us because they want a taste of home. Sometimes we run out of fish or the rice isn't perfect, but we do our best every single day. It’s a family-run kind of thing. We aren't trying to be a five-star restaurant or anything. We just want to serve good, honest food to whoever comes through the door. Manipal is a good place for us because there are always hungry people around. We’ve been here for a bit and we’ve gotten to know our regulars quite well.
