We are based in Manipal and we spend our time working on Food Plating And Styling- Feast For The Eyes. It is a bit of a strange job because we are always playing with food, but not really to eat it. We focus on making the plates look right for photos. Our studio space is basically a small kitchen that is usually overflowing with props, napkins, and odd pieces of cutlery we have found at local markets over the years. It takes a lot of time to get one plate looking right. We use things like tweezers and small brushes to move a single grain of rice or a leaf into the perfect spot. It is a lot more tedious than it looks from the outside. The food usually gets cold while we are working, so it is not much of a feast for us at the end of the day. Manipal is a nice place to be for this kind of creative work. We do not have a big team or any corporate structure. It is just us trying to get the lighting and the colors to match up correctly. Sometimes a shoot doesn't go well and we have to start all over again with fresh ingredients. Our kitchen is almost always a mess with bowls and scraps everywhere. We just like the challenge of making something simple look like it belongs on the cover of a magazine. It takes patience.
