Sunil Khagta runs things here at Rolling Stone Tours & Travel. We are based right in Vashisht, which is just up the hill from the main Manali town. It is a busy spot because of the temple and the hot springs that everyone wants to visit. I spend a lot of my time as a computer operator, handling the bookings and looking at travel routes on the screen. It is a mix of sitting at the desk and talking to people who want to see the mountains. We know the roads around Kullu district really well because we live here. My office is a small space where the internet sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. When people come by, they usually want to know about the best way to get to Rohtang or just find a quiet place to walk. We have been doing this for a bit now, just helping travelers find their way around. It is not a big corporate setup. It is just me and a few others making sure the cars are ready and the schedules make sense for everyone. Vashisht is a good place to be because the air is clear and you can see the whole valley from here. We take care of the paperwork and make sure the pin code 175103 is where the mail gets delivered. Most days are about answering phones and clicking through travel sites. It keeps us busy and we like the people we meet. It is just a local business.
