Veant Rice Mill

Village Jarg is where we are. It's on the Malerkotla Road. We've been here for a while now. The mill stays pretty busy during the harvest months when the tractors start lining up outside. Most days it's just about keeping the machines running right. Sometimes the belt snaps or something gets stuck in the hopper, and we have to stop everything to fix it. It gets really dusty inside, especially when the wind blows through the open doors. We have a small group of guys who work here. Some have been with us since the start. We mostly handle local paddy from the nearby fields. People know where we are because of the big chimney you can see from the road. It’s not a fancy setup. We just have the sheds and the storage areas. Sometimes the rain makes the yard a bit of a mess, but we manage to get the trucks in and out. It’s hard work, especially when the sun is hitting the tin roof in the summer. We drink a lot of tea to keep going. We don't really do much besides the milling part. It's just what we do day in and day out. The noise from the hullers is something you get used to after a while. If you’re coming from Malerkotla, you can’t miss us. It’s just a plain place doing a plain job. It isn't about being big or famous, we just try to get the bags filled and the trucks loaded without making too many mistakes.
